Simulation and basic skills course in laparoscopic surgery

Objectives

To develop basic psychomotor and cognitive skills needed in laparoscopic surgery by practicing at the virtual simulator () until proficiency level is achieved.

Program

Cognitive part: each participant, will complete the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) module, a comprehensive web-based education module for laparoscopic surgery, available at https://www.flsprogram.org/

Technical part: basic exercises to familiarize with laparoscopic procedures. Exercises are to be performed until the proficiency level is reached consecutively twice.

Seminars: a surgeon shows videos of laparoscopic surgery procedures, illustrating the basic steps.

Frequency

At the virtual simulator: once, maximum twice a week.
